The Cornwall junior 'A' Colts advance to the CCHL semifinals, after a 5-3 win over Smiths Falls Thursday night at the Ed Lumley Arena that saw the boys take the first-round series four games to one.

Brennan Markell scored twice to pace the Colts' offence. Dean Derouchie and Konnor MacCormick each had a goal and an assist. Grant Cooper scored into an empty net to seal the victory. Tristan Conrad and Sebastian Dirven each chipped in with two assists.

Hunter Garlasco, Hayden Hart, and Kyle Dowdall scored for the Bears.

The Colts outshot the Bears 36-31, with Liam Lascelle backstopping the victory.

Three Stars of the Game were First Star Brennan Markell (COR), Second Star Dean Derouchie (COR), and Third Star Hunter Garlasco (SF).

The Colts must now wait to find out who they’ll play in the CCHL semifinal series.

Ottawa defeated Brockville 2-1 Thursday to win their series 4-1. Carleton Place leads Nepean three-games-to-one, while Kemptville and Hawkesbury are tied 2-2.

Regardless of their opponent, the Colts will begin the next round at home on Thursday, March 30.  Game time is 7:30pm at the Ed Lumley Arena in Cornwall Civic Complex.
