Last night in Hawkesbury, Josh Barnes of the Cornwall Colts scored 9:20 into the second overtime period to give his team a 3-2 victory over the Hawks.
The win staved off elimination for the Colts, who will again face a do-or-die situation in game six at the Cornwall Civic Complex, on Sunday, March 25, starting at 7 p.m. The Hawks, with a win, will advance to the next round of CCHL playoffs, currently leading the series three games to two.
The marathon in Hawkesbury saw the county's own Ethan Mulhearn open the scoring for Cornwall 4:20 into the contest, before Kieran Craig, who hails from Alexandria and plays for the Hawks, scored to tie nine minutes later. North Lancaster native Simon Besner set up Colin Stevens for Hawkesbury's go-ahead tally later in the frame.
After a scoreless second stanza, county boy David A. Poirier assisted Cameron Hebert's equalizer for Cornwall, at the 15:03 mark of the third.
Should the Colts prevail on Sunday night, the series will go to a game seven back in Hawkesbury on Tuesday.
