The Commonwell Mutual Insurance Group is donating $25,000 to Dunvegan's Glengarry Pioneer Museum, one of six heritage organizations receiving a total of $150,000 from the company.
“As a community-based business celebrating our own legacy of 122 years, we recognized Canada 150 as a perfect moment to step up and specifically help these organizations in their important work to remember, recount and reenact our shared history for future generations,” said Tim Shauf, The Commonwell President and CEO.
The senior women's division of the Glengarry Soccer League's indoor season has made another change to the schedule for the finals, moving game 2 to tonight, March 16, at 7:30pm.
Dunvegan prevailed in the opener last night, 3-0 over Alexandria, and could clinch the title with a win tonight. Of course, the Alexandria ladies have other ideas, looking to win and extend the series to a third and deciding match.

Bumped from last night due to the snowstorm, game 1 of the Glengarry Soccer League's senior women's finals goes tonight at the dome in Alexandria, where the Dunvegan and Alexandria teams will battle. Start time is set for 7:30pm.

Although the fire caused a devastating loss, the toll could have been much higher as flames razed a barn on the Leducdale Farm near Dunvegan Monday. The Annual Battle of Glengarry returns to the Glengarry Pioneer Museum in Dunvegan, where the early history of Upper Canada, comes to life.
September 26 and 27, re-enactors will once again return with their muskets, cannons and campfires to recreate the 1812-1814 conflict on the museum grounds.
Battles will be staged at 3 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday.
Six years since its inception, the museum’s 1812 event has thrilled and delighted audiences both young and old. Even the re-enactors are captivated by the irresistible charm of rural Glengarry and they bring their families to bivouac for the entire weekend.
