A 68-year-old North Glengarry man has been charged with arson and assault after Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police detachment officers responded to a complaint about threats being made at a Breadalbane Road residence August 18.

The Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police detachment is investigating a residential fire on Breadalbane Road in North Grengarry Township.
Shortly after 11:00 a.m. today, officers were dispatched to a "threatening complaint." Upon their arrival, officers found the home was on fire and extinguished the flames.
The OPP Canine Unit, Emergency Response Team, Forensic Identification Services Unit and the Alexandria Fire Department attended the scene.
The Ontario Fire Marshal has been notified and the investigation is ongoing.

A fire that caused major damage to thr clubhouse at Williamstown's park has been deemed suspicious and referred to the OPP. The clubhouse was built a few years ago, thanks to volunteers and donations. South Glengarry township is reporting the building is a total loss and will have to be torn down.
