Tickets on sale for Glengarry Sports Hall of Fame Induction Dinner & Ceremony

Five incredible inductees to the Glengarry Sports Hall of Fame will be recognized for their talents and relentless determination in Glengarry sports and for their help in putting the county on the map.

Tickets for the 39th Annual Glengarry Sports Hall of Fame Induction Dinner on August 16 are now available at Maxville and Alexandria Scotiabank branches, as well as at the Glengarry Celtic Music Hall of Fame. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the Heritage Hall in Williamstown, on August 5-6.

Tickets for the always sold-out event, this year being held in Maxville, are $40 before August 10 and $50 after that.

The head table will include Serge Vaillancourt, Jean-Guy Ractliffe, Edwin Hay, Kyle (representing the late Gerald Blair), and a representative for the late Andre Poirier. The junior head table, which showcases graduating high school athletes, will be introduced by Babs MacLeod.

Piper Tim Simpson, soloist Shannon Manley, and organist Sheldon Grant will provide entertainment during the evening.

Cumberbatch among local athletes qualified for OFSAA track and field

The May 31 edition of The Glengarry News includes a story about local high school athletes who have qualified for OFSAA track and field, which will be held later this week in Belleville.

Among them are East Regionals gold medallist and senior boys pole vault record-setter Brennan Seguin, from Char-Lan. Other Crusaders, as well as athletes from GDHS, Tagwi, and Le Relais earned qualification results too and will advance to the provincial meet.

Glengarry Sports Hall of Fame induction ceremony Aug. 19 in Alexandria

The Glengarry Sports Hall of Fame's 37th annual induction celebration and dinner will be held Aug. 19 at the Glengarry Sports Palace in Alexandria.

Over the past few weeks, The Glengarry News has published stories about this year's inductees and the guest speaker.
