Pivotal game five goes against Stangs

With the semifinal series tied at two games apiece, Maxville's Junior C Mustangs were looking for a solid performance on home ice Tuesday night against the Embrun Panthers.

After a scoreless opening period, the teams combined for six goals in the middle frame, but it was an Embrun tally just nine seconds into the third period that set the stage as things devolved from there en route to a 10-3 loss. Aside from the defeat, the Mustangs also lost several players during the game — one due to injury and three due to ejections — while the referee struggled to control the game and keep the skaters in check.

Game six will be do-or-die for Maxville, as the Stangs travel to Embrun Wednesday night for an 8 p.m. puck drop. Of note, the boys won both earlier playoff games (one and three) played there.
