Glengarry high school athletes compete this week at OFSAA

The EOSSAA champion senior girls soccer team from Glengarry District High School in Alexandria is competing at the OFSAA 'A' soccer tournament in Smithville (in the Niagara region) from June 4-6.  The Gaels are seeded second overall.

Schedule/results

  • Game 1: Thursday, 9 a.m., vs ESC Hearst. RESULT: 10-0 win.
  • Game 2: Thursday, 1 p.m., vs ESC Nouvelle Alliance (from Barrie). RESULT: 11-1 win.
  • Game 3: Friday, 9 a.m., vs Rockway Mennonite Collegiate (from Kitchener). RESULT: 5-0 win.
  • Quarter-final: Friday, 3 p.m. vs Acton DHS.  RESULT: 7-0 win.
  • Semifinal: Saturday, 9 a.m. vs Trinity College.  RESULT: 3-0 win.
  • Gold medal final: Saturday, 3 p.m. vs Villanova College.  RESULT: 1-0 win.  GDHS takes OFSAA 'A' girls soccer title.

OFSAA Track and Field

As well, seven of the county's athletes are competing at the provincial high school track and field meet in Toronto.

Representing Williamstown's Char-Lan District High School are pole vaulters Meaghan MacDougall (seeded 6th), Meaghan Henderson, Kyle MacDougall, Nelson Cecereu, Eric Ming, and Ryan Robertson, while Jacob Cameron is running for GDHS in both the 3000 metre (seeded 4th) and 1500 metre races.
