Alexandria teen pitching at national baseball tournament

Leo MacLean of Alexandria is a pitcher for the Cornwall Black Sox Senior Little League Team that recently won the provincial title for Ontario.  He and his teammates are currently representing the province at baseball nationals which are ongoing in New Brunswick, with the winner to represent Canada at the Senior Little League World Series to be held in Bangor, Maine.

On the mound for game one against Valleyfield, the Quebec representative, today, MacLean scattered six hits in five innings of work from the mound before giving way to Aaron Seguin as the Sox racked up a 9-3 victory to open the tournament.

Next up for the boys will be a game at 10 a.m. Sunday morning against the BC title holder, Coquitlam.  The rest of the round-robin schedule begins with a Sunday night showdown versus the Glace Bay Antonians, followed on Monday with a game against the representative from the Prairies, Regina, Saskatchewan, before wrapping up Tuesday with a contest against the host Saint John, New Brunswick squad.
