Everson lifts the junior A Hawkesbury Hawks over Smiths Falls, 5-2
The Hawkesbury Hawks of the CCHL relied on the scoring touch of Brett Everson, who netted two goals, to beat the Smiths Falls Bears, 5-2, on Sunday afternoon.
Everson scored 1:43 into the third period to make the score 3-1 and again while on the power play, at the 4:09 mark.
Hawkesbury excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Hawks also got points from Julien Denicourt, who racked up one goal and two assists, and Chris Smith (one goal and one assist). Also scoring was Joe Smith. In addition, Hawkesbury received assists from Charles Levesque, Brandon Barillaro, and Jonathan Cyr.
Goaltender Cole Skinner rejected 22 shots in the win. Hawkesbury and Smiths Falls each were assessed six minutes in penalty time.
