Late goals defeat CCHL Cornwall Colts

Kemptville scored three goals in the final seven minutes of the third period to come from behind and beat the CCHL junior 'A' Cornwall Colts 5-4 last night at the Ed Lumley Arena.

Shawn Baird’s two goals (hist fifth and sixth of the season) gave the Colts a 4-2 lead early in the third period.  Sebastian Dirven (5) and Dean Derouchie (11) also scored for the Colts.  Lawson MacDougall picked up 3 assists in the losing effort.

The Colts outshot the 73’s 41-29, but Kemptville fired 15 of their shots at Colts goaltender Liam Lascelle in the third period.  

Cornwall's record falls to 26-24-3-1 for 54 points, leaving them in 9th place in the CCHL standings.

The game's three stars were First Star Shawn Baird (COR), Second Star Tyson Kirby (KEM), and Third Star Jason Tackett (KEM). Lawson MacDougall was named the Hardest Working Player of the Game.

Family Day game

The Colts will be looking to rebound with a Family Day game on Monday against Hawkesbury.

The team will welcome Butterfly Child Jonathan Pitre as special guest in a pre-game ceremony. Game time is 3pm at the Ed Lumley Arena (Cornwall Civic Complex).

The Colts are offering a special Family Day package which includes two adult tickets, two children tickets, and two orders of popcorn for only $32 (a savings of $14).
