MacLean gets two hits in Sox World Series loss
Alexandria's Leo MacLean got two hits, both bunt singles, in a marathon Senior Little League World Series game Tuesday night against Northern California.
In the bottom of the 7th inning, MacLean reached base, then stole second. He also reached with a bunt single in the bottom of the 9th and walked in the bottom of the 10th, but as the extra innings affair wore on, California found a way to push runs across in the 12th inning to win the game 6-3.
The Sox are currently (Wednesday afternoon) playing against the Philippines. Results can be followed online here.
MacLean and his teammates enter the action today sporting an 0-2 record, despite playing competitive baseball. On Sunday, the Sox lost 1-0 to the host Maine squad.
The last round-robin game is booked for Thursday morning when the Sox will square off against South Carolina. In order to make the playoff round, the boys will need to win today against the Philippines, beat South Carolina tomorrow, and probably hope for a little help in the other games too, since only the top two teams in the pool advance.
