Cornwall Colts junior A hockey team dropped in OT

The Cornwall Colts hit the post in overtime before Smiths Falls came back to score the winner for a 2-1 victory at the Ed Lumley Arena on South Stormont Minor Hockey Game Night.

Brennan Markell’s 13th goal of the season was all the offence the Colts could muster while facing red-hot Bears goaltender Evan DeBrouwer.  The Bears outshot the Colts 33-30. Brett Nichol took the loss despite making 31 saves.

The Colts' record stands at 27-27-4-1 for 59 points and 9th place in the CCHL standings. Three Stars were First Star Michael McKenney (SF), Second Star Brett Nichol (COR), and Third Star Evan DeBrouwer (SF). The Colts Hardest Working Player was Nick Lalonde.

The Colts will be back in action in Ottawa against the Junior Senators on Saturday night.  Game time is 7:30pm.

Skate with the Colts

Cornwall returns home for a Sunday matinee (Feb. 28) against the Gloucester Rangers.  Children 12 and under get free admission, and following the game, fans are invited to skate with the Colts. Game time is 3pm at the Ed Lumley Arena.
