Busy Saturday sports calendar

A busy calendar of sports on Satuday in Glengarry includes sessions at the Glengarry Hockey School, the inaugural running of the President's Cup golf tournament at the Glengarry Golf and Country Club, a youth soccer fundraising tourney in Alexandria, a golf fundraiser at Summerheights Golf Course in support of high school football, day two of a senior girls high school basketball tourney at Holy Trinity, the home opener for the Maxville Mustangs hockey team, the hockey home opener for the Alexandria Junior B Glens, and a home game for the Char-Lan Junior B Rebels in Williamstown.

Fans of competitive golf are invited to join the gallery at the golf course in Alexandria as the links host golfers from the Atlantide Golf Club from Ile Perrot taking on our Glengarry golfers. First tee off is at 10:09 a.m. when Dale MacDonald and Jean Marc Titley will take top the course, along with counterparts from Atlantide, with the final group of Tyler O'Brien, Shane O'Brien, and two Atlantide golfers scheduled to begin around 11:30.  The event is expected to run through to day until approximately 4:30 p.m.

Junior hockey options

All three of Glengarry's junior hockey teams will be in action on home ice Saturday night.

For the Maxville Junior C Mustangs, the game against Gatineau will mark the team's home opener. All minor hockey players are invited to attend and cheer on the Stangs.  Puck will drop at 7:30 p.m. at the Maxville arena.

For the Alexandria Junior B Glens, it will also be the team's home opener. Starting at 8 p.m. at the Glengarry Sports Palace in Alexandria, the Glens will kick off a battle against Winchester.  The Glens garnered their first win of the season on Thursday night in Casselman, clipping the Vikings 6-4.

And in Williamstown, beginning at 7:45 p.m., the Junior B Rebels will host Casselman. The Vikings are 2-1 on the season.
