Celebrate hockey on Saturday in Glengarry
There will be plenty of ways to celebrate hockey on Saturday in the county and show your support for the drive to have Alexandria names as Hockeyville 2010.
- Why not wear a hockey jersey all day and show your pride in the sport?
- How about attending a hockey game at one of the indoor or outdoor rinks?
- Have you decorated your home or business with a Hockeyville sign, hockey equipment, photos, and more?
Bainsville
Jack Danaher Park in Bainsville will be the site of the annual outdoor hockey tournament that features high-tempo action from local teams vying for bragging rights. The park building will also serve up food and drinks all day long. All funds raised help to support ongoing park development.
Maxville
The annual AJK Highlanders hockey tournament will take over the Maxville arena ice on Saturday with games running throughout the day, culminating with the finals at 4 and 5 p.m. This tourney features adult recreational teams from the region. The licensed gondola will also be open with karaoke on tap.
Junior hockey
All three of the counties junior hockey teams will be playing in the county on Saturday.
In Williamstown, the Glens and Rebels will battle for the final time of Junior B regular season. When the teams last met, Alexandria thrashed Char-Lan 7-0, but the Rebs still hold the edge on the season series. Opening puck drop is booked for 7:45 p.m.
Maxville's Junior C Mustangs will host Vankleek Hill in a 7:30 p.m. start.
Minor hockey
The Glengarry Sports Palace in Alexandria will feature an array of minor hockey action all weekend.
