Glengarry VIPs to face off against politicians on Tuesday
Make plans to check out a team of Glengarry VIPs take on members of the Conservative Party of Canada in a fundraising hockey game slated for the Glengarry Sports Palace in Alexandria on Tuesday, March 9, starting at 7:45 p.m.
The Glengarry team will be coached by Gilles Joanette, Bill Kippen, and Chris McDonell.
The Glengarry VIPs roster: PeterWensink, Jim McDonell, Alain Giroux, Stanley Fraser, Maurice Sauvé, Murray McEwen, Jim Wightman, Pierre Guindon, Barry MacDonald, Kennedy MacDonald, Pascal Joanette, Shawn McRae, Tommy Pasco, Bob Henri, Denis Martin, Yves Poirier, Leo Séguin, and Dan Giroux.
On the other side will be Honorable Jim Prentice, Minister of Environment; Honorable Peter MacKay, Minister of National Defence; Honorable Rob Moore, Minister of State (Small Business and Tourism); Senator Michael MacDonald; Pierre Lemieux, MP Glengarry Prescott-Russell; Guy Lauzon, MP Stormont-Dundas-South Glengarry; Gord Brown, MP; Patrick Brown, MP; Rick Dykstra, MP; Dean Del Mastro, MP; James Rajotte, MP; Brian Storseth, MP; Mike Lake, MP; Blaine Calkins, MP; and Greg Rickford, MP.
The game will be officiated by Jamie MacDonald and D.J. MacDonald, and emceed by Thom Racine. French welcome will be offered by Gilles Joanette. Chris McPherson is booked to pipe the players onto the ice, and the Caddell family will perform O Canada.
A ceremonial puck drop will feature four veterans from the Glengarry Sports Hall of Fame.
All this is a fundraiser for the hall of fame and the hospital foundation. Tickets are just $5. Various silent auction items will be up for grabs too.
The Hockeyville Crew will also be on hand to present a special hockey stick.
Following the game, there will be a meet-and-greet in the hall upstairs.
