Tight race

A tight race has developed in Glengarry-Prescott-Russell in the run-up to the October 19 federal election.
However, while GPR is considered to be a hotly-contested swing riding, there will be no all-candidates debate in North Glengarry, since only the Liberal candidate was ready to participate in the forum organized by the Alexandria and District Chamber of Commerce.
Liberal Francis Drouin, who will meet voters October 7 at 7 p.m. at the Tim Hortons in Alexandria, has maintained a slim lead over Conservative incumbent Pierre Lemieux over the last several weeks, according to one polling firm.
