sean Apr 7, 2019 - 1:25pm

A special exhibition senior 'A' hockey game will be played this evening in Cornwall, as the Cornwall Prowlers host the Montreal-based Cedars.

Who are the Cedars, you ask? It's a newly formed group of hockey players playing under the banner of the Lebanese Ice Hockey Federation.

Game time at Cornwall's multi-sport complex is set for 7:20 p.m., and at least two Glengarrians (Jesse Fontaine and Pierre Luc Sabourin) are expected to be included on the Cornwall roster.

County hockey players hit the ice tonight in QMJHL playoffs

sean Mar 27, 2019 - 5:34pm

Two boys from the county will skate with their respective QMJHL clubs in first-round playoff hockey action tonight.

Roddie Sandiland and his Cape Breton Screaming Eagles are facing the Charlottetown Islanders, looking to even the series that they currently trail 2 games to 1.

The Gatineau Olympiques and Kieran Craig are taking on the Drummondville Voltigeurs, and it's do-or-die for them tonight, as they trail 3-0.

Glen Nevis, Bar Flies open GSL finals with wins

sean Mar 21, 2019 - 9:08pm

The first games of both the senior men's and senior women's Glengarry Soccer League indoor championships are in the books, with the Bar Flies and Glen Nevis winners.

Tonight, March 21, the Bar Flies took down McCrimmon 5-3, in a roller coaster men's match that saw the bulk of the scoring in the second half. In fact, just one goal, from the Bar Flies, was notched before the interval.

Wednesday evening had the women's opener. Glen Nevis held a 2-0 lead until the late going when Dunvegan drew even. Overtime failed to determine a winner, so it was on to penalties, where Glen Nevis prevailed.

The second contest for the women goes next Tuesday, while the men will be back at it next Thursday.
