In early preparation for the 2019 racing season, the Cornwall Motor Speedway recently held a drivers meeting for the Mini-Stock and Pro-Stock divisions.
At the request of several drivers from these classes, the meeting included track promoters Raymond and Jacques Lavergne, along with some team members, all listening to ideas, challenges, and questions from the race teams.
"The Mini-Stock meeting was a productive one. Several teams attended, and several rules discussions occurred, as we talked about the weight breaks, security features, engines, and several ideas were put on the table," says Martin Bélanger.
"The Lavergne brothers have committed to providing answers in early 2019 to all teams, and the amount of potential drivers is encouraging," adds Bélanger.
The Pro-Stock drivers were next on the schedule. The discussion was different from the Mini-Stock. It was more geared towards finding solutions on getting more cars to the speedway, security features, and the calendar."
The 2019 season will mark the track's 50th.
Some key dates have already been confirmed, as the Super DIRTcar Big-Block Series will start a string of three consecutive Sundays with a DIRTcar Series in action. The DIRTcar Pro-Stock Series will be in Cornwall on July 7, followed by the DIRTcar 358 Series on July 14. The DIRTcar Sportsman Series will be run on Thursday, August 15.
More announcements will be made after the Christmas holidays. The Lavergne family and Cornwall Motor Speedway wish everyone happy holidays, encouraging you to spend some quality time with family and friends, and to be safe.
