No junior B Glens home game this weekend

Just a reminder to fans of the Alexandria Glens, the team doesn't have a home game this weekend. Instead, the boys will play Friday night in Winchester and Saturday night in Cobden.

Looking for something to do Friday night instead? The Glengarry Sports Palace will be buzzing with junior 'A' hockey instead, as the Hawkesbury Hawks have migrated south to play a CCHL contest. Read the details in The News this week.

Battle of the Glens returns to the Sports Palace

The Alexandria Glens needed a gritty comeback to salvage a win on home ice at the Glengarry Sports Palace tonight, beating their southern rival, the Char-Lan Rebels, in CCHL2 exhibition action.

Ball drops on ladies ball hockey playoffs (photos)

Playoff action in the Alexandria Ladies Ball Hockey League began last night, with games continuing next Monday and Thursday evenings. We have details in The News this week and will have more in the July 26 edition of the newspaper. You can check out some photos of game action here.

Youth baseball competition held today in Alexandria

Glengarry Minor Baseball today held its pitch, hit, and run competition for young girls and boys, with berths at the regional event on the line. We will have details in an upcoming edition of The Glengarry News. Photos are posted here in our online galleries.

The youth baseball program's house league play opening day is scheduled for Saturday, May 13.

Char-Lan DHS girls score two wins in girls hockey

After getting a bye in the first high school girls hockey tournament of the season last week, the Char-Lan Crusaders took it to their opponents in action today in Alexandria, scoring a pair of decisive wins. 

Also playing for the first time this season were the GDHS Gaels, who suffered two defeats. Tagwi dropped both its matches today, while Holy Trinity won one and tied its other.

This week's edition of The Glengarry News includes a round-up of the opened tournament, which was held last week in Chesterville. We will have full details from today's event in our first edition of 2017, setting the stage for the resumption of the high school sports season in January.

Glengarry Sports Palace nominated for Hockeyville

Some may remember a few years back that Alexandria had a solid run in the Hockeyville competition, reaching the final group of selections.

Thanks to a nomination by Derick Viau, the community is back in the Hockeyville program this year.
