Fans of the Alexandria Glens and Char-Lan Rebels won't have a chance to see their teams on home ice this weekend, as the clubs participate in the CCHL2 season-opening showcase in Ottawa.
First home game for the Glens is set for Friday, Sept. 15, with the Rebels skating on home ice the next night.
At this weekend's showcase, the Rebels are slated to play Saturday at 5:30 pm and Sunday at 8:15 pm. Alexandria's games in Ottawa are booked for Saturday at 8:30 pm and Sunday at 5:15 pm. The league is using the Sensplex at 813 Shefford Road for all over the weekend, as each of the CCHL2 teams is scheduled to play twice.
The SDGAA and PRSSAA high school sports leagues are joining forces to host their respective track and field championships for high school student-athletes in Ottawa today, at the Terry Fox complex.
We will have results in next week's edition of The Glengarry News. The May 10 edition of the newspaper includes recent track and field news from Tagwi and GDHS.

Alexandria's junior B Glens are scheduled to return to CCHL2 game action tonight, with a contest on the road versus the Ottawa Canadians. Game time is set for 7:30pm, at Jack Charron Arena. The Glens are looking for their first win, currently sitting at 0-2, while the Canadians enter the contest at 1-3.

Nelson Cecereu is scheduled to compete in the Canadian university championships in pole vaulting on Saturday, March 14. His event is slated for a 1pm start. The graduate of Char-Lan DHS and current student-athlete at the University of Ottawa is seeded seventh with a 4.63 metre best jump which he achieved at the recent Ontario competition.
