The Holy Trinity Falcons 'AA' senior girls soccer team fell this morning 7-4 to a powerhouse squad, the Holy Trinity Tigers from Bradford.
The Falcons entered the game as a wounded lot, with one player on crutches and another hobbled by a knee injury.
Nonetheless, they somehow managed to score four times against a team that hadn't allowed a goal in its previous two matches. Sniper Melissa Gilligan found the target for three of her team's goals, while Stephanie Leask notched one.
The last game of the round robin is just underway in North Bay, where the Falcons are playing the Father Bressani Eagles from Woodridge. A win will get HT back to the .500 mark, but unfortunately, they won't advance to the playoff round, as the top two seeds in their pool have already been determined.
Following a loss this morning, Holy Trinity's senior girls soccer team rebounded with a shutout victory this afternoon over the Silverthorn Spartans from Etobicoke. Goal scorers were Melissa Gilligan, Dara Laframboise, and Stephanie Leask. Madison Ruffo was between the pipes for the goose egg.
The Falcons will be back in action on Thursday, with two more round-robin matches at 'AA' OFSAA soccer in North Bay.
The Holy Trinity CSS Falcons senior girls soccer team is competing at 'AA' OFSAA in North Bay.
