Former local rivals to collide in university football final

The Atlantic division of CIS football has its championship game set for Saturday, and it will include a pair of athletes who were rivals locally.

Rookie Jakob Loucks is a quarterback with the Mount Allison Mounties, who will meet the St. Francis Xavier X-Men in the title tilt on Nov. 12 at 1pm, in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. The host side has Summerstown's Jeremy Pike on the roster. 

The two opposed each other is high school football, when Loucks was with St. Joseph's and Pike played for Holy Trinity.

Area footballers pursue sport at university level

Two athletes with roots in Glengarry are pursuing their passion for football at the university level. Jakob Loucks, formerly of Apple Hill, is seen below (left) with Summerstown's Jeremy Pike following a recent CIS gridiron battle.

Loucks is a first-year student-athlete at Mount Allison, in New Brunswick. As a member of the Mounties, he is playing the quarterback position. Pike attends St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia, and is a wide receiver with the X-Men.
