The River Drivers exploded for seven goals in the third period en route to a 9-4 victory over the Nationals on Sunday afternoon in Berlin. Vojtech Zemlicka led the Berlin attack with a hat trick, while eight other players had multiple-point games.
Lou Dickenson and MJ Graham each had a pair of goals for Cornwall, while Gabriel Levesque chipped in a pair of assists.
The River Drivers outshot the Nationals 34-23.
The Cornwall Nationals have dealt forward Darick Ste Marie to the Port Huron Prowlers. In return, the Nationals receive future considerations.
The Prowlers get immediate assistance in acquiring an offensive player that will help them in their Federal Hockey League playoff push. The Nationals are excited about the transaction, which will help the team for the 2017-18 season.
“This deal is another step to help us build a contender for next season,” says Nationals general manager Basem Awwad.
Ste Marie scored the overtime winner on Saturday night at the Civic Complex, as the Nationals defeated the Berlin River Drivers 4-3.
Cornwall travels to Danville for road games on Thursday (8 p.m.) and Friday (8 p.m.) this week. The Nationals are back on home ice this Sunday, when Ste Marie and the Port Huron Prowlers visit the Civic Complex. The puck drops at 6 p.m. Tickets are $13 for adults, $10 for seniors/students, and $5 for children under the age of 12.
