Green Valley's Remi Elie is back in the NHL.
After a late cut from the Dallas Stars training camp, Elie was loaned to the AHL Texas Stars, for whom he played the bulk of the last two seasons. In 129 games (including two this season) with the AHL club, Elie has 46 points.
Late last season, he was called up to Dallas, playing in 18 games and scoring 1 goal to go along with 6 assists.
The NHL club today announced his recall to Dallas, which is winless in two games this season.
Elie, a 6 ft. 1 lb., 215 lb. left winger was originally selected by Dallas in the second round (40th overall) of the 2013 NHL draft. His junior hockey career began in the CCHL with the Hawkesbury Hawks, before he went on to play for several OHL clubs.
Remi Elie, who has toiled the better part of the last two seasons in the AHL, will get his chance tonight on the big stage, scheduled to skate with the Dallas Stars on the NHL, when they compete in Miami, versus the Florida Panthers. The 21-year-old from Green Valley will have his parents, Sylvain and Rachel, in the stands cheering him on.
Game time is set for 7pm. Fans of Elie will need access to NHL Gamecentre or the NHL cable/satellite TV package in order to watch the action.
We will have the story in the next edition of The Glengarry News.
