Ontario Fire Marshal investigators are trying to determine the cause of an early morning Tuesday fire that claimed the lives of 80 cows and caused damages ranging from $3 million to $4 million at the Jack family farm near Maxville. Nobody was injured in the blaze that began at 2:30 a.m. at the farm located on Cumming Road in North Stormont. Flames could be seen from Highway 138 as the fire quickly engulfed the milk barn and adjoining buildings.
Approximately 40 firefighters from the St-Isidore, Fournier, St-Bernardin, St-Albert, Limoges and Casselman stations battled a structural fire at the processing plant at Levac Propane in St-Isidore last night.
The blaze, which started at 6 p.m., forced the closure of Ste-Catherine Street between Concession 20 and Concession 21.
The fire is now under control.
There were no injuries and no explosions.
Ste-Catherine Street is now open.
