On Friday, Feb. 9, the Alexandria Glens will hold a special minor hockey evening as part of their junior 'B' hockey game that night with the Ottawa West Golden Knights.
As we reported in The Glengarry News last week (Jan. 31 edition), the Alexandria peewee 'C' Glens will take on EPR Fusion from Hawkesbury, prior to the CCHL2 contest, starting at approximately 6:30 p.m. The junior 'B' game will follow at the Glens' traditional 8 p.m. start time.
All minor hockey players, wearing their jerseys and accompanied by a paying adult, will be admitted to the evening at no charge.
The Alexandria Glens continued their late-season swoon on Tuesday night, falling behind the Perth Blue Wings 3-0, before rallying to tie, only to eventually fall 4-3 in overtime.
Over their last eight CCHL2 games, the Glens have won just twice, though the boys have also picked up single points in three other games, as a result of overtime or shootout losses.
Perplexingly, two of the losses have come against the Char-Lan Rebels, one of the weakest teams statistically in the league, while one of Alexandria wins came against the top-ranked Casselman Vikings.

The Alexandria Glens of the CCHL2 enter this week in fifth place in the Martin Division, but have games in hand on all the teams above them. Notably, the Glens have played one contest fewer than the Ottawa West Golden Knights, which have four more points than Alexandria and hold fourth place. The third-seeded Embrun Panthers have played five more games than Alexandria and hold third place by a five-point margin.
Alexandria has a busy stretch ahead, including four contests over a six-day span that starts Thursday.
