The full story of the series is recounted in the March 13 edition of The Glengarry News.
The Cornwall senior 'A' Prowlers split their first two semifinal series games with the Mont Laurier Montagnards, dropping the opener on the road 6-4, before rebounding 6-5 on home ice.
The third match is set for March 9 in Mont Laurier, with game four on Sunday, March 10, at 4 p.m., at Cornwall's multi-sport complex. The series is a best-of-five.
Of the county players on the roster, Maxville's Adam Wensink scored twice in the first two games and added an assist, while Martintown's Jesse Fontaine notched one marker. The team also includes Pierre-Luc Sabourin, a defenceman from Alexandria.
After a tight first period that ended 1-1, the wheels fell off in the second stanza, where the Ottawa Jr. Canadians scored five times, en route to handing The Char-Lan Rebels a 6-2 loss to open the Martin Division best-of-seven semifinals.
It was the first road defeat for Char-Lan, which in the previous round won both road games in Alexandria.
For starting goaltender Grant Craig, who had been stellar against the Glens, he was given a break after allowing five goals on 18 shots through 25:59 of play. Julien Cholette took over in net for the remainder of the match, surrendering one goal and making 25 saves.
Game two of the series is set for Williamstown, on Thursday night.
