Maxville Fair youth football games to continue tradition

The 2019 season of spring league youth tackle football is around the corner, with the Glengarry Gaels and Cornwall Wildcats currently registering players for their slate of teams. For information on the Gaels, please see their advertisement in the March 20 issue of The Glengarry News.

It has been confirmed that the tradition of minor football games under the lights at the Maxville Fair will continue again this year. Participating teams will be confirmed closer to the date.

Video: GSL women's soccer semifinal goes into overtime

One of Tuesday evening's Glengarry Soccer League senior women's knockout semifinal matches played Tuesday night went into overtime, before eventually being decided on penalty kicks, as Glen Nevis got past Alexandria to qualify for the best-of-three finals versus Dunvegan.

Craig, Sandilands head into QMJHL playoffs

The county's two players in the Quebec Major Junior A Hockey League are both playoff bound, with the regular season having concluded last weekend.

Roddie Sandilands is a defenceman with the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, who finished fifth in the Eastern Division (40-22-1-5) and will face off with the Charlottetown Islanders.

Kieran Craig is a rookie forward for the Gatineau Olympiques. He and his team (23-39-4-2) will take on the Drummondville Voltigeurs in round one.
