School action escalates

The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) has escalated job action in schools across Ontario.
"Phase 2 of CUPE’s work-to-rule campaign contains a number of measures intended to mostly target school and board administration as opposed to directly impacting parents and students," the Upper Canada District School Board says.
"However, combined with ongoing sanctions by the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario (ETFO), it is becoming increasingly difficult to sustain some school activities beyond basic operations and classroom learning. Specifically, both ETFO and CUPE have placed constraints on their members’ ability to handle money in schools," the board relates.
Therefore, schools may be forced to cancel or reschedule hot lunches, off-site activities and other events involving money.
"Your school will be providing you more specific guidance about the nature of activities that will be impacted, if any."
