Williamstown Park building and rink open to public

sean Jan 22, 2016 - 5:28pm

South Glengarry township has announced that the park building and rink at the park in Williamstown have re-opened to the public. The facility had been closed since a suspicious fire last spring.

Among the victims of the delay in repairing the facility was a charity hockey tournament over the Christmas holidays, as the event had to be cancelled.

Not ready for business: Williamstown park building unavailable to public

sean Jan 5, 2016 - 11:02am

Williamstown's park building is still not ready for public access. The new structure has been under development since a suspicious fire destroyed the previous erection last spring. A charity hockey tournament slated for Dec. 26-27 was forced to be cancelled due to the unavailability of the building. No word yet when it will be ready.

Summerstown Trails to hold annual clean-up day on Saturday, Nov. 21

sean Nov 17, 2015 - 11:28am

The Friends of the Summerstown Trails (FOTST) will be holding their Annual Clean-up Day on Saturday, November 21, starting at 9:00 a.m.

Given that there is less garbage/litter on the trails (good news!), volunteers will also be put to work removing the fallen branches and unwanted growth on the cross-country ski and snowshoe trails.

FOTST board members, and other FOTST members, and volunteers will be on hand. The Summerstown Forest, which contains the trails, is located on County Road 27 (Summerstown Road), between Summerstown Station and the Glen Road intersection.

About FOTST: The Friends of the Summerstown Trails (FOTST) is incorporated as a non-profit group run by volunteers with a stated mandate to maintain and develop green, recreational trails for healthy outdoor activities in the Summerstown Forest. In recent years, an impressive amount of progress has been made as trails have been improved and expanded, new grooming equipment and signage obtained and new activities offered, such as races, instructional lessons, outings for schools and seniors and Family Day activities. Rental of XC ski and snowshoe packages is also offered on weekends.
