On Friday night, the soccer season came to an end for Dunvegan's senior men's squad, with a 5-1 loss to the powerhouse team from Vankleek Hill, which has now earned a berth in the GSL championship finals.
The other semifinal series has Greenfield leading McCrimmon one game to none, with the second match booked for Sunday night in Greenfield.

Updating our story in this week's edition of The Glengarry News, the senior men's soccer teams from Vankleek Hill and Greenfield drew first blood in their respective semifinal series, beating Dunvegan (8-0) and McCrimmon (3-1).
Game two of the Dunvegan-VKH series goes Friday night Dunvegan, while the other series will see its second contest on Sunday night in Greenfield. Both are 8:30 p.m. starts.
The 2018 Glengarry Soccer League's senior women's division championship will be decided in a three-game series between Dunvegan and Laggan.
Both teams wrapped up their respective semifinal series earlier this week. Dunvegan dispatched Glen Sandfield, and Laggan outgunned Char-Lan FC. It's worth noting that both Dunvegan and Laggan held their opponents off the scoresheet in sweeping the semis two games to none.
The title series will kick off next Tuesday, in Dunvegan.

Last night in Glengarry Soccer League senior women's semifinal play on the Lochiel pitch, Laggan's overtime marker by Jen Stewart, off a corner, propelled the Black Shirts to a 1-0 win over Char-Lan FC. The victory also gives Laggan a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three series.
The other match, in Dunvegan, saw the hosts pound Glen Sandfield 9-0, on goals from Michelle DeRepentigny (5), Ava Gandia (3), and Robyn Gandia.

With a 4-0 loss to Greenfield on Wednesday evening, the Glen Sandfield senior men's soccer team has officially been eliminated from playoff contention. The men will wrap up their summer tonight against league league-leading Vankleek Hill.
In other action tonight (July 27), McCrimmon and Dunvegan will play at the field at Lochiel, beginning at 8:30 p.m.
Playoff semifinal match-ups are now set, with Vankleek Hill pegged to take on Dunvegan, while McCrimmon will battle Greenfield. Both series will kick off Wednesday, Aug. 8, and we will have all the details in the next edition of The Glengarry News.
The Dunvegan senior women's soccer team is the GSL regular-season champion for 2018. The Blue Shirts finished off their campaign last night on home turf, with a convincing 6-0 win over Glen Sandfield, the team they will meet in league semifinals. A photo gallery is available here.

This series opens Tuesday, July 31 in Dunvegan and promises to be an uphill battle for Team Green, which won just twice all season, while the Blues lost just once. Game start time is set for 8:30 p.m. The second match, on Aug. 7, will take place on the pitch at Lochiel.
Semifinals: Laggan 2nd vs. Char-Lan FC 3rd
Just two points separated these squads in the final regular-season standings. The series will kick off at the Lochiel field on Tuesday, July 31, at 8:30 p.m. Game two, on Aug. 7, will take place at North Lancaster Park (the current home field for the Char-Lan ladies due to ongoing work at the field in Williamstown).

The U10 girls and U10 boys divisions of the Glengarry Soccer League will be the first to see playoff action this season, set to kick off on Monday, July 30, with elimination games continuing each Monday before culminating on Aug. 20 with the championship matches.
Senior women's teams will be next into the playoffs, beginning July 31.
