With Summer unofficially beginning this weekend, many will be considering taking a dip at the beach in Alexandria's Island Park. However, folks ought to tread lightly as some Canada geese have staked a claim on a section of the shore. This bird is very determined to protect newly hatched goslings. Remember that the Victoria Day long weekend also marks an increased police presence on highways.
Environment Canada has issued a heat warning this afternoon for our region.
There is little break forecast in the coming days, with high temperatures of 32 and 34 Celsius predicted for tomorrow and Wednesday, respectively. Late afternoons and evenings, starting today, may see some shower or thunderstorm activity.

The Sir John Johnson Manor House Committee invites applications from university, college, even graduating high school students, for the position of summer curator/archivist in one of Ontario’s oldest and most historical houses.
Up to two students (depending on government funding) will be required for 10 to 16 weeks (35 hours per week) this summer.
Applicants should have a good knowledge of local history, especially of the Manor House.
