Free materials for a caber decorating contest can be picked up at Maxville Home Hardware. Participants decorating their cabers should try to incorporate the “Past, Present and Future” theme and ensure they submit their entries by the June 6 deadline.

Congratulations to Canada Day Parade Button Drawing Contest grand prize winner Cecilia Liolios. The public chose the Williamstown Public School Grade 4 student's lapel button design in the contest sponsored by The Glengarry News, Papeterie Alexandria Stationery and the Alexandria and District Lions Club. Maxville’s “Best In The West” potluck supper will highlight a new attraction -- a Kiss the Pig contest. “Some of the more prominent members of the community have volunteered themselves to be contestants or nominees for this contest,” related Adrien Tessier, one of the organizers of the challenge.
