"My family likes to give lottery tickets as birthday, anniversary and special occasion gifts,” said the lucky winner at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto. “My ticket was tucked into a gift from my husband.”

The winning ticket was purchased at Shoppers Drug Mart on Brookdale Avenue in Cornwall.

Joseph (Adrien) St. Louis of Apple Hill is celebrating after winning $100,000 with ENCORE. Adrien matched six of the seven winning numbers on his ENCORE selection.

Another area resident has struck it rich.

Congratulations to Finch resident Kaitlyn (Kaity) MacMillan, the latest winner of $1,000 a week for life with Instant Cash for Life. Kaity opted for a lump sum payment of $675,000.

The Alexandria Festival of Lights held in Island Park during the month of December greeted more than 5,000 visitors. They were welcomed at the Sandfield Centre for free hot chocolate and were also able to enter a contest to win a barbecue and meat pack donated by Home Hardware and Desautels Foods. Denis Quesnel, of Green Valley, had the wining ticket that was drawn by festival committee members Daniel Lalonde and Ron Aubin.
