Two Char-Lan minor hockey teams battling in UCMHL finals

There are two Char-Lan Rebel minor hockey teams currently battling in the UCMHL finals, but both find themselves on the ropes.

The major midget rep. 'B' squad, which we featured in the March 13 issue of The Glengarry News, trails the North Dundas Demons four points to none in the five-point series. Game three is scheduled for Friday night at 8 p.m., in Williamstown.

The atom rep 'B' group is playing the Kemptville Panthers in their championship series and is also down four points to none. They are slated to play tonight in Kemptville, facing a must-win situation.

Char-Lan novice Rebels go for UCMHL title tonight

The Char-Lan Rebels novice B Rebels rep. hockey team goes for the UCMHL championship tonight, on home ice in Williamstown, starting at 6 p.m.

The young skaters are facing the Kemptville Panthers in the fifth and final game of the title series, with each team having one win and one loss, to go along with two ties thus far.

Busy days of playoff action for Char-Lan minor hockey teams

Here's an update on home playoff games for Char-Lan minor hockey teams. Unless otherwise noted, matches are played in Williamstown, at the Char-Lan Rec. Centre.

Today (March 24):

  • Peewee Rep at 12pm
  • Bantam B House at 6pm

Monday (March 26):

  • Novice rep 6pm
  • Peewee Rep 7pm
  • Midget Rep 830pm

Tuesday (March 27):

  • Novice C House 6pm
  • Atom Rep 7pm
  • Midget House 8pm
  • Midget Rep 930pm

Tuesday (March 27) in Maxville due to ice availability constraints:

  • Novice rep in Maxville at 6pm

Bantam Glens drop puck on title series tonight on home ice

The Alexandria Bantam 'B' Glens are vying for the UCMHL championship, with the series opening tonight on home ice at the Palace. The five-point series will then hit the road tomorrow, before returning to Alexandria for Sunday action, at 5:30 p.m.

Char-Lan major midgets advance to UCMHL finals

The fourth-seeded Char-Lan major midget rep. 'B' hockey team will play for the UCMHL championship, after having dispatched first-place South Dundas.

The Rebels won the series six points to two (actually only needing five to advance).

After opening the semifinals with a 6-3 loss, Char-Lan went on to win the next three games, on scores of 5-3, 3-1, and 2-0.

The boys will play Brockville in the final series, starting on the road as early as Sunday and then likely back in Williamstown on Monday evening. Once confirmed, we will post the complete schedule of games.

Last night in Williamstown, Char-Lan's major midget hockey team drew even in its playoff series with South Dundas, and we have the story in this week's edition of The Glengarry News.

Alexandria peewees take Battle of Glengarry on home ice

The Alexandria peewee 'B' Glens rep hockey team prevailed over league-leading Char-Lan today at the Glengarry Sports Palace. We will have the story in the next edition of The Glengarry News, along with an online photo gallery.

County teams still skating in UCMHL playoffs

Be sure to check out this week's edition of The Glengarry News for a story about the peewee rep 'B' Battle of Glengarry playoff series between the Char-Lan Rebels and the Alexandria Glens. We also have photos from one of the games in our online galleries here.

County teams remain active in other divisions as well.

Major midget

Char-Lan swept North Dundas their opening playoff series, winning 3-1 and 4-0. NGS wasn't as fortunate, bounced by South Dundas 4-1 and 4-1.

The Rebels completed the regular season in second place in the east division, with a record of 15-4-5, while NGS was last, at 3-19-2.

Minor midget

The NGS Braves, seeded third (12-10-2) are currently playing the second-place Seaway Valley Spartans, who won game one 2-1. The second match is slated for March 3 in Maxville, at 7pm. If a third contest is needed, it will be played in Cornwall the next day, beginning at 6:40pm.


The favoured Char-Lan Rebels are done, having lost their playoff series to Cornwall, 5-1 and 1-0.

NGS is also finished. The Braves lost their opener 4-3 to South Stormont. They won game two 5-2, then dropped the third 4-2.


Char-Lan took top spot in the regular season, with a 21-2-1 record. Alexandria was third, and NGS last in the east division.

In playoff action, the Rebels pounded the North Dundas Demons 7-0 and 3-0 to advance to the next round.

NGS was earlier eliminated by Alexandria, on scores of 5-2 and 5-1. The Glens are currently playing the South Stormont Selects, tied at a game apiece. The third match of the series is set for tonight, Feb. 28, in Long Sault at 6pm.


Char-Lan placed first in the regular season too, sporting a record of 21-1-2. NGS was third.

The Braves and Rebels are currently battling in the playoffs, with game 1 in Finch on March 1, starting at 6pm. The second contest will be in Williamstown on March 4, at 9am, and, if needed, a third match will be played in Finch on March 8 at 6pm.
