The second game of the best-of-three CCHL2 wildcard playoff series between the Char-Lan Rebels and Alexandria Glens is scheduled for tonight in Williamstown, and the contest will have a lot to live up to, following a thrilling opener Tuesday evening in Alexandria.
The Feb. 26 match saw Char-Lan prevail 1-0 on a third-period power-play goal, from Brennan Markell, who collected the puck off an endboards rebound, following an initial shot from the blue line by Mathieu Sabourin.
Rebels goaltender Grant Craig was a rock all night, but especially in the first and second periods, keeping the Glens off the scoresheet. In all, he made 34 saves.
Alexandria got into penalty trouble in the final frame, playing nearly half of the period short-handed. This has been a bugaboo for the Glens all season.
Game time tonight is set for 8 p.m. at the Char-Lan Rec. Centre.
