Junior 'A' Colts win 8th straight game, goalie Lascelle named player of week

Colts captain Grant Cooper had a three-point night to lead Cornwall to a 6-4 win over Nepean at the Ed Lumley Arena in Thursday night CCHL hockey action. The victory extends the Colts' winning streak to eight games.

Cooper added two assists to go along with his team-leading 20th goal of the season, as the Colts improve to 25-12-1-3 for 54 points and third overall in league standings.

Alexander Montelone scored his first goal as a Colt and added an assist.  Dean Derouchie (13th of the season), Keegan Mulhearn (5), Shawn Baird (4), and JD Pogue (12) also found the back of the net for the Cornwall squad.

The Raiders outshot the Colts 36-33, with Liam Lascelle picking up the win in goal.

Three stars were First Star Montelone (COR), Second Star Henry McKinney (NEP), and Third Star Noah Konink (COR).

The Colts look to extend their winning streak on Sunday afternoon at home, against the Kanata Lasers.  Colts stars Nick Lalonde and Sebastian Dirven, who played for Team Canada East at the World Jr A Challenge, will be signing autographs and meeting fans after the game.  The puck drops at 3pm at the Ed Lumley Arena (Cornwall Civic Complex).

Goaltender Lascelle named CCHL player of the week

Colts netminder Liam Lascelle has been named the CCHL Player of the Week. The Colts goalie stopped 78 of 79 shots fired his way, backstopping his team to back-to-back victories over Hawkesbury and Brockville.

Lascelle has been in goal during the Colts' winning streak, posting a sparkling .952 save percentage through the first seven games. Overall this season, Lascelle is 17-9-0-2 with three shutouts, a 2.38 goals against average, and a .923 save percentage.

Junior 'A' Colts win 6th straight hockey game with 5-1 romp over Hawkesbury

Six different Colts scored as Cornwall whipped Hawkesbury 6-1 in their first game in 2017 on Thursday evening. 

The win pushes the Colts into third place overall in the CCHL standings, with a record of 23-12-1-3 for 50 points.

Dean Derouchie led the Colts with a goal (his 11th of the season) and an assist.  Tristan Conrad (4th), Nick Lalonde (17th), Massimo Luciani (5th), Konnor MacCormick (11th), and Brennan Markell (9th) also scored for the Colts.  Keegan Mulhearn chipped in with two assists. The Hawks outshot the Colts 39-26, with Liam Lascelle making 38 saves to earn his 16th win of the season.

Three Stars were First Star Dean Derouchie (COR), Second Star Liam Lascelle (COR), and Third Star Charles Levesque (HAW).

The Colts travel tonight (Jan. 6) to Brockville to face the Braves.  

Next home action is booked for Thursday, Jan.12 versus the Nepean Raiders. Game time is 7:30pm at the Ed Lumley Arena (Cornwall Civic Complex).

Colts pound Rangers in CCHL hockey action

Last week at the Cornwall Civic Complex, 15 different Colts figured in the scoring, as Cornwall routed the Gloucester Rangers 10-3.

Colts Captain Grant Cooper ( with his 12th of the season) and Tanner Spink (8th) each had two goals and an assist. Dean Derouchie (3rd), Konnor MacCormick (4th), Keegan Mulhearn (1st), and Ethan Mulhearn (3rd) each scored a goal and an assist. Justin St. Germain and Tristan Conrad each added their first goal of the season.

CCHL leading scorer Nick Lalonde picked up 3 assists and now has 9 goals and 16 assists for 25 points.  His 16 assists are tops in the CCHL.

The Colts outshot the Rangers 39-32, with Matt Efros picking up the goaltending victory. The win saw Cornwall improve its record to 9-5-0-1 for 19 points and second overall in the CCHL standings.

Three Stars were First Star Grant Cooper (Colts), Second Star Konnor MacCormick (Colts), and Third Star Liam Peyton (Rangers).

The Colts return to the Ed Lumley Arena on Thursday, Oct. 20, to take on the Kemptville 73’s.  Game time is 7:30pm.

Colts are back in the win column

Nick Lalonde’s four points paced the Cornwall Colts junior 'A' hockey team to a 5-2 victory over the Rangers, last Friday night in Gloucester.

Lalonde scored his 8th and 9th goals of the season and added two assists, as the Colts improved to 8-5-0-1.  Cornwall is now second overall in the CCHL standings.

Ethan Mulhearn potted his first two goals of the season and had one helper, while Tanner Spink (6) also scored.  Grant Cooper chipped in with two assists.

Matt Efros made 25 saves for his second victory of the season.

Lalonde is tied for the CCHL scoring title with 22 points, while Cooper continues to pace the league in goals with 10. 

The Colts will return home to the Ed Lumley Arena on Thursday, Oct. 13 to host the Gloucester Rangers. Game time is set for 7:30pm.
