A last-minute goal by Christopher Mammas was too little too late, as the CCHL Cornwall Colts dropped a 3-2 decision to the Hawkesbury Hawks at the Ed Lumley Arena, last Thursday night.

Mammas (with his fourth of the campaign) scored on a set-up from Dean Derouchie and Colts captain Grant Cooper, with 38 seconds remaining in the third period. Brennan Markell (2) notched a short-handed marker for the Colts' only other tally on the night.

Markell started this season with the Colts, before moving to the CCHL2 Char-Lan Rebels for a few weeks due to his school workload, but he has since returned to the Cornwall club. The centreman played 8 games with the Rebs and has 11 in the books with the Colts.

The Colts outshot the Hawks 39-28, with Liam Lascelle getting tagged with the loss in net.

Three Stars were Charles Levesque (HAW), Matthew Chan (HAW), and Brennan Markell (COR).

Nov. 11 action saw the boys prevail on the road in Carleton Place, 4-3, as Nick Lalonde paced the offence with a pair of goals. Markell and Shawn Baird had the other tallies.

On Sunday in Kemptville, the Colts fell 5-3. Cornwall markers came from JD Pogue, Cooper, and Vincent Robillard.

In league standings, Cornwall sits sixth (14-9-0-3).

The Colts return to the Ed Lumley Arena in Cornwall on Thursday, Nov. 17 to host the Pembroke Lumber Kings. The club will be celebrating National Child Day.  Game time is 7:30pm.
