Two Glengarry teams head to EOSSAA

Glengarry District High School is sending two teams to compete at EOSSAA tournaments this week, as the senior boys volleyball squad and senior girls basketball team won the respective SD&G championships.

Glengarry girls capture senior A basketball title, Holy Trinity girls take AA crown

On Thursday at Tagwi, the Glengarry DHS senior girls basketball team captured the SDGAA league 'A' playoff title in a hard-fought contest with the host Warriors, while a day earlier, Holy Trinity's seniors nabbed the 'AA' crown over Catholic rival St. Joseph's.

High school girls basketball titles to be decided Thursday

The SDGAA 'A' division senior and junior girls champions will be decided Thursday, Nov. 7, on two fronts.

The action is scheduled to tip off at Tagwi SS, at 8:30 a.m., with a junior girls semifinal game between Glengarry and Char-Lan. The other junior semi will take place at 10 a.m., at North Dundas, where the host Devils will take on St. Lawrence. The junior girls final is set for a 12:30 p.m. start, to be hosted by North Dundas.

Tagwi gets the senior semifinals. At 10 a.m., it will be Char-Lan versus Glengarry, followed by the Warriors against North Dundas. The senior 'A' final is booked for a 2 p.m. start.

During the regular season, Tagwi's seniors placed first with 16 points, while North Dundas was best amongst junior squads with 14 points.

Holy Trinity beats Tagwi in high school football, moves on to playoffs

Holy Trinity moves on, while Tagwi is done, as the regular season of high school football wrapped up last week. The Warriors finish bottom of the table at 0-5, while the Falcons end up second at 4-1. Glengarry Gaels football team ends season with two wins

The Glengarry Gaels varsity football team, a combined effort of GDHS and VCI, wrapped up its season last week with a win over CCVS. It was the second-straight victory for the Gaels, who finish 2-3. High school football wraps up today with Gaels, Falcons winners

Regular-season action in the SDGAA high school varsity football league concluded today, when the Glengarry Gaels dispatched the CCVS Raiders, and the Holy Trinity Falcons prevailed over the Tagwi Warriors.

Final standings: St. Joseph's 5-0, Holy Trinity 4-1, la Citadelle 3-2, Glengarry 2-3, CCVS 1-4, Tagwi 0-5.

Playoff semifinals next week will feature the Panthers and Raiders on Thursday, with the Falcons and Patriotes playing on Friday.

Despite finishing in fourth place, the Gaels are barred from post-season play due to a league decision imposed because Glengarry's team is a combined effort of GDHS and VCI.

Glengarry Gaels claim Harvest Bowl over Tagwi Warriors

A chilly Harvest Bowl contested Oct. 18 in Vankleek Hill saw the Glengarry Gaels football team shut out the Tagwi Warriors 32-0. We have the details in this week's edition of The Glengarry News. For photos of the action, please see the gallery here.
