Busy days of playoff action for Char-Lan minor hockey teams
Here's an update on home playoff games for Char-Lan minor hockey teams. Unless otherwise noted, matches are played in Williamstown, at the Char-Lan Rec. Centre.
Today (March 24):

Char-Lan major midgets advance to UCMHL finals
The fourth-seeded Char-Lan major midget rep. 'B' hockey team will play for the UCMHL championship, after having dispatched first-place South Dundas.
The Rebels won the series six points to two (actually only needing five to advance).
After opening the semifinals with a 6-3 loss, Char-Lan went on to win the next three games, on scores of 5-3, 3-1, and 2-0.
The boys will play Brockville in the final series, starting on the road as early as Sunday and then likely back in Williamstown on Monday evening. Once confirmed, we will post the complete schedule of games.

Last night in Williamstown, Char-Lan's major midget hockey team drew even in its playoff series with South Dundas, and we have the story in this week's edition of The Glengarry News.

Minor playoffs on ice in Williamstown tonight
A pair of minor hockey playoff games is scheduled for Williamstown tonight, to be played at the Char-Lan Rec. Centre, beginning at 7 p.m.
First up, the peewee Rebels will take on the South Stormont Selections. The teams are even at 2 points apiece in their UCMHL opening-round playoff series.
At 8:30 p.m., major midget action will take over, as Char-Lan entertains South Dundas. The Demons won game one 6-3 earlier this month.
Char-Lan Crusaders capture championship
Char-Lan DHS' boys hockey team playing today for SD&G championship
The boys hockey team from Williamstown's Char-Lan DHS is competing this afternoon for the SD&G high school hockey championship. The Crusaders won their semifinal game this morning, 6-3 over Seaway.
Today's title tilt was scheduled for a 1 p.m. start, at the Char-Lan Rec. Centre. We will have results next week in The News, as this week's newspaper has already gone to press.

Char-Lan junior B Rebels to skate locally twice this weekend
The Char-Lan Rebels of the CCHL2 are scheduled to host the Ottawa Canadians (who will play the Alexandria Glens in the division semifinal round of playoffs) tonight, Feb. 24, At the Char-Lan Rec. Centre. Start time is set for 8 p.m.
The Rebs also have a game booked for Sunday, to be played at 3 p.m., at the Ed Lumley Arena (Cornwall Civic Complex). The Brockville Tikis will provide the opposition for the contest that will officially put the wrap on the 2017-18 season for Char-Lan.
Char-Lan boys suffer first hockey loss, still to host playoffs
The boys hockey team from Char-Lan DHS suffered its first loss of the season, dropping its record to 9-1, but will still host league playoffs next week.
In Feb. 20 action at the Long Sault arena, the top-ranked Crusaders beat North Dundas 5-2, before falling 3-2 to La Citadelle, a team that finishes out of the playoff picture.
With results coming in after this week's edition of The News went to press, we will have all the details in our issue next week.
As the top seed, Char-Lan will host the SDGAA playoff tournament in Williamstown, on Feb. 27, starting at 9 a.m. when the Crusaders will take on fourth-place Seaway. At 10:30 a.m., second-place St. Joseph's will play North Dundas is the other semifinal.
The championship match is booked for a 1 p.m. start.
Unlike most high school sports, in hockey, 'A' and 'AA' ranked teams compete for the same playoff title and for the right to go on to a combined A/AA EOSSAA.
